IE irritation

When I leave my computer (the Alienware), I get logged out of LJ. I don't have it set that way in LJ. Might it be set that way in IE?

Yes, although the computer is closed. However, programs continue to run while the computer is closed.

You probably have the wireless connection set to disconnet/sleep when the laptop is closed (I think its in power save options). When the connection is closed the stupid java-bean-thingamaroo gets lonely and dies. and even thought you may have left the page for LJ open, the connection to LJ-Mamma-host-being is lost. Oh so lost. You can verify this by leaving the laptop open when you leave it.

the thing is that I'm logged in (on the same computer) to LJ in Mozilla and it doesn't log me out. It's only IE that is doing it.

Humm, that is new, I didn't know there was a settign in IE that would terminate a connection or forget who you are logged in as.

That being said, sweep it again for spyware and viruseseses.. This sounds like something opening a new window so that it can use your credentials somewhere else in the old window. That is not a new idea, just not that common.

I would just like to say that the horrible grammar and poor spelling in the last comment were brought to you by "lack of sleep" and the letter J.

Do you have IE set to not accept cookies? I'm in no way technical, but I'm pretty sure that LJ login has something to do with cookies.
