A tremendous crash, sequel the Nth

We transitioned the kids (not Julian) from cribs to mattresses on the floor, because they were dismantling the cribs.

I had no idea how much they rolled around in the cribs in their sleep. They must have been like pinballs. Sam just rolled off the foot of his bed, and stayed asleep. While I was in their room, resetting him (!), Abby almost fell of the side of her bed. She self-stabilized, but when I went in earlier, both Sam and Ellie were off their mattresses.

Maybe we should pad the whole floor...?

Perhaps make a cardboard wall for them to bounce off of? Something to hit, and let them know that there's an "edge" there?

And, it should be flimsy enough, that if they put too much weight on it, it'll collapse, and they'll end up on the floor. That way, they don't get accustomed to finding the edge by bouncing off of it... which would be hazardous once their bed isn't on the floor.

It's a good idea in theory. In practice, what it involves is them shredding cardboard prior to falling asleep. I suppose we could pretend they are hamsters, and they sleep on a pile of shredded pulp...?

I imagine that since they don't weigh all that much, the floor isn't all that uncomfortable. They'll grow to prefer the mattresses in time, probably even to finding their way back to it in their sleep or waking up when they hit the floor.

How have you been? Ain't heard much from you in (insert simile here).

Mainly, I've been dead. I died in the war. And, they were right, it took more than 3 days for me to creep back to life.

Busy, still hunting for a new job, trying to keep from constantly complaining about the current one. Maintaining a semblance of sanity despite the best attempts of the yellow thumbtacks. They think I don't know that they're plotting against me. But I saw them. They were all together in a box, having a little meeting... And when I walked up and said "Hi", they all ignored me, acted like they didn't see me. I KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS!

So, yeah, maybe only a modicum of a semblance of sanity...

As long as they think you're sane, they won't notice the hamster nest you're building in the server farm. Let them discover it after you've left.
