The convention!

I'm past the point where I feel like detailing everything about it in sequential fashion. So here's some almost-random thoughts, cut for your reading pleasure.

Was the convention good? Sure. I think I'm getting old, though. I was too tired any of the nights that I was there to go out with anyone in my peer group for booze and/or casual fun stuff. Since the hotel was driving distance, I didn't get a room for the whole convention...but this meant no drinking for Seth. Not that it was likely...I had low energy and/or general yuckiness much of the time.

Convention activities? What I attended was fine. I skipped the bus tour of B'more because I needed to run an errand, and, well, I've seen Baltimore before. The boat trip to Annapolis was fine, but too long. The tour of the Maryland Pharmacy Museum was spiffy. The convention meetings themselves were fine; no complaints on that front. It was good to have Karen come to the Installation Banquet...many people had interest in meeting her, and I'd wanted to show her that the fraternity isn't a total waste of time and space. Note the use of the word 'total'.

I was elected again to the same position as last year. I'll be doing the newsletters once again. I've already started working on what I'll be sending out the first time around; whether or not I'll get better responses is not within my control. We'll see if I come up with the spare time to send anything out in the next couple of weeks.

Other than that, there's nothing especially spiffy to report about it. That made two weekends in a row I was away from home (even though Karen and I were at the convention together over Shabbos). We would have been away this weekend (we got offered a place to stay closer to shul) but ran out of energy on Friday. We'll be away again this weekend, and since I seem to have lots of Sundays off for August, possibilities abound. Karen and I will have to spend some time thinking and planning, to get the best use of our time. :)

Well, we're going to be out of the area for the next 2 weeks, then might (mind you i said might) be in DC Sat the 16th (ish). One of our favorite bands is playing at Live on Penn that day, and we've discussed coming up that afternoon /evening and seeing them. So, we might be interested in getting together and hanging out some. Or, after this long road trip we're about to embark on, we may not be speaking to each other, and not want to see the inside of a car ever again. So, we'll have to see.

But, such is life. I should try to find one.

Re: Sundays
I recommend you speak to Karen about the possibility of stopping by. We of course would be happy to see you, despite your zero-for-10 track record of making plans to visit us and then failing to do so. We love you anyway.

Hey... I resemble that remark....

As for 0 for 10 track record, everytime I've been in the northern DC area for the last 3 months, I've come by... (of course, all this proves is that I haven't been in the northern DC area in at least 3 months, but still....)

I am actually feeling MUCH better but have a lingering hacking cough which is more annoying than anything, except when I'm trying to sleep or hide it (i.e. in professional settings)

I hope you feel better soon, too. I felt better first thing this morning. Then I must have been turned into Wile E. Coyote, because the Road Runner ran me over with a truck. Bleargh.
