I am amused

From today's althistoryblog:

in 1949, famous educational advocate Chaim Witz was born in Haifa, Israel. After emigrating with his parents to the U.S., Witz became an elementary school teacher in New York, where he soon took up the cause of poor children in this country. His outspoken criticism of segregation and the sorry state of schools in poor districts led to a national system of public education.

Two points to anyone who can identify the identity Chaim Witz is known as in contemporary society.

Re: Two points to my sweetie!
actually, I hadn't noticed his clue. I never look at anyone's current music. In Seth's case I should, because often his "current music" isn't what he's actually listening to, it's something related to the post he's making. Anyway, I'm just proud of myself for remembering Gene's name. Truth is, I didn't know who Gene Simmons was until I met Seth. And I couldn't name a single KISS song without a google search. And frankly, I'd like to keep it that way.
