A short, swift update

Today was a day from hell at work. I'll post more another time if I get the chance.

What started it downhill was, of course, mostly unrelated to work. One of my first emails of the day came from our formulary manager, who forwarded a message from the FDA: "FDA asks Pfizer to remove Bextra (valdecoxib) from the market."

I was worried about this. Bextra is what keeps me functional. I've had a form of arthritis for 15 years now, and Bextra is (I think) the seventh medication I've been on. Things work for a bit, then they don't work so well. Bextra's still working. I have about 2 and a half months left, and then I'll have to try something else. Problem is, everything else is likely to be inferior.

I hear you. I refuse to get rid of the Vioxx I paid $150 for when my insurance plan refused to cover it pre-removal from the market. Hard to believe it could cost that much but I gladly paid knowing it is the only drug that allows me to stand upright when tricky discs go haywire.

When than happens I will use some from my stash. The Advil does nothing.

Pretty soon what will be left to take care of all of our aches and pains?

Morphine, and lots of it.

Yeah but it's hard to do much of anything else while on it. At least for me.

Okay, so I forgot "...and amphetamines."
