Cut for gingy

Your Linguistic Profile:

55% General American English

25% Yankee

20% Dixie

0% Midwestern

0% Upper Midwestern

This is only interesting in that I've lived in the Midwest but apparently never picked up anything linguistically from them. English, for example.

I did that. It's all WRONG. I am neither General American, Yankee, Dixie, or Midwestern of any sort.

Well, that's your fault
You need a test that determines what type of Canadian (English?) you speak. You clearly took the wrong test. You wouldn't take a test that determined what kind of lesbian you are, would you? I mean, from my impression, you're neither a diesel dyke or a lipstick lesbian. I'll bet that's because you're a flaming heterosexual.

Heh. I have no idea what dialect they consider Midwestern, but I tested 0 too, along with all my other Midwestern friends.

Perhaps no one speaks Midwestern
Heh. I only lived in Ohio and Michigan. Maybe they're not in the Midwest?

Well, as someone who has lived in NYC, NJ, MD, Upstate NY, WI, and CA, I tested as:

50% General American English
30% Yankee
15% Dixie
5% Upper Midwestern
0% Midwestern

Although I've never called an "easy class" anything other than "easy class", I selected "gut" because that was the only one of the terms I'd heard before.

I find it difficult, as usual, to determine that these quizzes are good for anything except showing that you have time to kill on LJ. 20 questions does not a linguistic test make.

I got classified as 15% Yankee! Nooooooo!

Don't sweat it
See my above response to Mr. Bodner. It's not statistically significant. A monkey could fill out the questionnaire and still score having fluency in English.

Re: Don't sweat it
Yep, you're right about that. Even after living in Boston, I found myself scratching my head and thinking, now what did I say that was specifically Yankee?

Re: Don't sweat it
I'll bet Yankee is a default. *shrugs*

I pretty much got the same as you - that must make me almost american!

I've been meaning to tell you
I find that icon disturbing in so many ways...
