One advantage to going to work before the crack of dawn is a perfect sliver of moon, with a faint image of the full moon as reflected Earthshine. Mmm...nifty! Apparently, there's a conjunction with Mars and a pretty bright Venus as well, but those are harder to spot while driving.

I ran some errands yesterday. Getting out of the house and going for a Sunday drive can be nice, especially since we seem to have moved beyond the monsoon season here in Maryland. I picked up a few shirts at a menswear store that's going out of business, and I plan to go to their other location (close to work) and see if there's anything else in their selection that might be good for me. When I got home, Karen and I went to White Flint Mall - she got some clothes of her own, and then we went to Pottery Barn and drooled over furniture. Figuratively, not literally. Certainly not Litterstly. Karen's mom was watching Julian for us; we picked up a pizza on the way home and we all had a quick dinner. Karen's mom went home, Julian went to bed, and Karen and I got to start watching TV again. Woo hoo!

Actually, we'd started watching again on Saturday night. We picked up Desperate Housewives, and watched 7 episodes from sundown through the time change. We watched three more episodes last night. It's more than a little weird, but it's fun to watch. I'm okay with the weird.

The sukkah's still up. There's supposed to be sunny weather all week, so I should be able to get it down if I can find the tools I need. Hrm. I wonder where I put them?

We're going Wednesday evening to look at bathroom fixtures. If we find stuff we like, the contractor will be ready to go full steam starting in December and be done in a week or two...or could start in mid-November, and still finish a week or two into December. Once that's done, we can get carpeting laid and trim redone, and then we'll have more than half the basement updated from the 1970's...and it might be a master suite. Sweet. I have lots of work to perform in my office, moving stuff upstairs and/or out of the way so that it can be carpeted with the other part of the basement. I guess we'll see how that goes, with everything else that's going on.

My surgery has been rescheduled, and I'm due to be operated on Thursday afternoon. I took my last dose of aspirin yesterday, and Mobic today. Hopefully I won't be too much of a pain in too much pain by the time I have the surgery. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Other than that, there's not much exciting to report. Happy October 31, for those of you celebrating it in some way. And, since I probably won't post tomorrow, Happy November, for those of you who enjoy happiness. :)

Damaged sofa to go
You're welcome to take the remaining D'Eustachio sofa with you. You could be the fourth owners...
