Let's see...November 3: knee surgery. Knee's still not healed. November 8: back went out: still not better.

November 21: I'm at work, feeling like my back has gone out again totally. Also feverish, so I claim flu and leave work. I leave early, get my mom to come help corral boys and dinner and then go to bed. I'm up every two hours, at a minimum. The next morning, I call my MD office for an appointment, which they can do at 2pm. I make it through the day on Vicodin, fluids, and bed rest. At the MD office, they don't think it's the flu, because there's no cough. *shrugs* Okay, whatever. My fever was 101.9F when I went in (that's 38.8C for you Metric fans). They took samples of various bodily fluids, told me to get a chest X-ray to rule out potential pneumonia, and sent me on my way without any prescriptions.

Hokay. Got the CXR, came home, went to bed. Karen brought Julian home. I took care of him for a very short time, then sent him to bed and put me back to bed. I was up less often, probably about every 4 hours. Nevertheless, I still wasn't feeling at the top of my game when I woke up. Julian has no school today, so there's a nanny. Thank heavens for the nanny. Karen had discovered vomit in Julian's bed before she left for work, but I hadn't had time to get to it. The nanny cleaned it. I stayed up and busy as much as I could (I took a midmorning laydown for an hour), and then (from working in my office downstairs) my back hurt again, so I took a Valium for the back spasms and went to bed after Julian refused lunch.

While I was unconscious, Julian was also to take a nap. During said nap, he threw up. Twice. He's also coughing. I'm betting we have the same thing...it's just a question of who gave what to whom. The nanny (again, bless her) cleaned it up again. I'm stalling going back upstairs, but the dirty laundry from last night was something I cleaned and dried today already, so we'll have fresh stuff for his bed. Again.

My nap was interrupted by my doctor's office. They said the CXR was negative and my white count wasn't up...so not a bacterial infection. My C-reactive protein was high, so it's a virus. What kind of virus, she doesn't know. *I'm* not coughing, so it may not be the flu. Thank heavens for small favors.

In the meantime, my extremities are cold and my MD office told me to not lay down but to instead sit up whenever possible. Whoopie. I'm off to fold laundry. And my fever coming back tells me it will be time for Tylenol again soon.

Thanks! You're always doing your best to send me good vibes when I'm doing poorly. I appreciate that.

Would you like some homemade chicken soup? I know it isn't a cold but it is available for your consuming pleasure should you so wish it.

I am actually feeling MUCH better but have a lingering hacking cough which is more annoying than anything, except when I'm trying to sleep or hide it (i.e. in professional settings)

I hope you feel better soon, too. I felt better first thing this morning. Then I must have been turned into Wile E. Coyote, because the Road Runner ran me over with a truck. Bleargh.
