So, Tuesday December 27 was when I got sick. I caught the stomach bug that's been going around. I called out sick on Wednesday, 12/28 - I got up at 6am, called out, was back in bed by 9am and slept until 4:30pm. I went to work on Thursday, but only because I was staffing in the IV Lab. They would have been behind for several hours had I not shown. I did call on my way in for them to find me coverage, so I only ended up being there for half a day. I also called out on Friday, and wasn't good for anything Saturday morning, either. This meant that I missed my demo session on Thursday the 29th. Luckily, I'd drummed up other coverage, so the evening wasn't a total loss for the game store.

Luckily, I was feeling better come New Year's Eve. Karen and I went to Dan & Allison's for a murder mystery party. The murder mystery was no mystery to Karen - she knew Dan had asked me to be the murderer. She's a deductive genius...and I'm not especially stealthy at hiding plotting. Nevertheless, I managed to avoid a formal charge of murder much longer than I'd expected, but I was eventually convicted. It was pretty fun - good to see Dan and Allison and good to mingle with a different crowd. Ian and Alida were there, and also Elissa and Jason, so it wasn't as if there weren't people there we knew.

This week, I got out a couple of times. Karen was kind enough to watch Julian so that I could hang out with mscongeniality and her brother at the AFI. We saw Labyrinth, which was pretty darn spiffy. Classic 1980's special effects and David Bowie (that's pronounced "boo-whee" for you non-Marylanders) in a really big wig. I also made it to Wednesday night gaming for the first time in forever. I may even be able to go play poker on Saturday night. I don't feel quite so much like a wallflower, recently.

We also have contractors in. They've torn out the awful awful bathroom in the basement, and are replacing it with something that Doesn't Suck. Once that's done, we'll put some carpeting in the basement and be able to use that guest room again. It may even become the master bedroom. I have to move lots of stuff out of my office prior to the carpeting going in. It'd be good to have all of the yucky red & black tile covered.

I'm sure there's more, but this is the first chance I've had to post in a while regarding anything of substance. Perhaps I'll say more later.

I haven't done anything useful like actually schedule an appointment for PT. Being sick and busy at work has complicated that. It's okay, mostly, but it could be better.

I agree. We should do again, when health permits.

Sorry to hear you've been unwell.

Labyrinth is Lauren's favourite film at the moment. I bought it for her six months ago and she's watched it over and over.

Re: Labyrinth
I got better. Now I'm worse again. Sucks to be me.

There was a three year old girl sitting behind me. She was reciting all the lines and singing along to all the songs. Lauren's not alone.

Mmm... the memories...
Labyrinth... I watched it at the end of the 80's... My brother bought the OST on record (I wonder if he still have it!), my neighbor bought the Labyrinth computer game for his Commodore 64. We sat lots and lots of time trying to solve it. Very hard, I remember! I don't think we ever manage to rescue the kid.

Just two or three years ago I bought Labyrinth on video... some parts were worse than I remembered them... some were better! :)

I don't feel a need to own it on video. My wife just bought me Dark Crystal, though, and that's stood the test of time a lot better. No humans in it, for example.
