Julian pounded on his door before 6am this morning. He tried his usual lines of desperation (e.g. "Abba, I have poopy diaper!") but since I knew that I'd set an alarm for 6am, I wasn't going to jump up just because he was feeding me a line. I've slept poorly of late, and last night I had actual nightmares...a side effect of too much Joss Whedon filmography, probably. He probably wasn't up more than 15 minutes early, and his diaper (as expected) was not poopy.
He began to watch A Bug's Life while he drank his morning milk, and I puttered around, alternately getting myself ready and helping Karen to get out the door. She had a busy day ahead (she's still not home yet) and I won't bother to repeat what kept her occupied. She'll post about it if she gets the time. Eventually I was ready to get out the door, and he and I went on eruv check. I had the driving half this time, so it was less scenic, but also faster. I take him with me about half the time when I go - the walking half, at least, is more than pleasant.
We came back, and saw Karen off for her day, and then I puttered some more (if you saw my other posts, you know that today was house-cleaning day) and we eventually went to get him a haircut. He got ice cream, fell asleep on the way back, and stayed asleep after we got home. He totally missed Alida and Avi coming over for a play date, and he stayed asleep until 2:45pm. When he woke up, he was hungry; I fed him and called Alida. We set up a second play date for the park, and I left shortly after talking with her. I didn't see her or the other family that were supposed to be there, but I did see beckyfeld and her son Aaron. They were only there for a few more minutes, but that was enough for Julian to get his Aaron fix of the day. (Even though Aaron is 5 years older, the two of them usually play well together.)
Julian pushed his stroller around for several minutes, and kept asking to use a Radio Flier belonging to another boy. The other boy told his parents he didn't mind Julian borrowing it, and so Julian traded his stroller for a wagon. It was mighty cold out, and by the time Alida and wossname showed up, Julian needed to go inside. So, we all walked back to the house, and the three boys played near each other while the parents chatted and drank hot cocoa. I'm such a rockin' host. 8^) Julian eventually wanted to play more with me, and the others wandered out. Julian, then, was plenty tired, and sat in front of the TV a bit more. I realized at about a quarter of seven that he was drifting off in front of the tube, so I began to lay out his pj's and a fresh diaper. He piped up "Abba, I want a bath!" So, I took off his dirty diaper and put him in the tub, which he promptly crapped in. *sigh* I guess I can't complain, as he almost never does it, but it really ticked me off. I changed the water, cleaned him up, and got him ready for bed. He didn't complain about bed, and was quite cute. There are rewards - he asked for a second hug before I left his room. Yay!
