Holy cow!

Last week's illness did bad things to the inside of my mouth. I couldn't chew for several days...it was as if I'd burned my tongue and mouth on hot food or drink, except nothing like that had actually happened. The problem seems to have healed itself (eventually, of course.) I'm not certain that the medicine my CRNP gave me was effective...the cultures she drew were negative, so there's no saying that it did anything. Here's the problem:

It seems that all my taste buds have been replaced with new ones. Everything even remotely spicy is incredibly spicy. Ketchup, for example. Wow. It's a good thing I haven't been the one cooking lately, or everyone would be incredibly bored. I wonder how long this will last?

That is really strange. Some people would envy you having a sense to re-discover [chuckle] but I guess if we could choose which one...

Well, considering that my vision is beyond 20/400, and my ears are reasonably functional (I haven't been to a rock concert in too long) and my allergies have been getting better over the years (less nasal congestion), I guess that leaves my sense of touch and my sense of balance. Neither of those are significantly broken. I'm not saying I'd like to be blind for 5 days so that I could be able to see well again, but if I had my choice for which sense to reinvigorate...

Huh... you categorize balance as a sense instead of smell. Are you pulling a Pluto on me?

(Though smell is probably the worst sense to reinvigorate.)

I'd be all for rediscovering touch. I'd probably need to be strapped into a hospital bed and on an IV for those five days, but the payoff!

Drat. Now I have a Madonna song stuck in my head. Serves me right.

I said: my allergies have been getting better over the years (less nasal congestion)

And you said: Huh... you categorize balance as a sense instead of smell.

Let me explain. No...it is too much. Let me sum up. Buttercup is to marry Humperdink in little less than half an hour.

Then you said: Drat. Now I have a Madonna song stuck in my head. Serves me right.

Wow. Fast justice.

It's the vinegar. Yowza.

Huh. To me, vinegar is on the sour, yet not spicy, end of things.

It burns! It burns! Oh, the pain, the pain...
