Hey, Pittsburghers!

I'll be attending a conference in Pittsburgh (Cranberry Township) from sometime on Sunday, August 10, until sometime on Tuesday, August 12.

Since it's for business, I can drive or fly. Do I need a car if I'm going to be at the conference and I'll be trying to see some of y'all, or can I get by without? Thoughts?

I thought that was Redmond WA...

Not from Corrine's standpoint, no. She's never worked for a company based in Redmond...

channeling Godzilla, are you?
There are indeed tasty burghers there. Even tasty burgers. Had a Pittsburgh-style burger recently?

The fries go in between the bun and the patty. It's carbalicious!

Cranberry is about half an hour north of the city proper, so depending on who you're planning on seeing (*cough*) and where around the city they live, you might need a car unless you can convince people to drive up and see you.

They have failed to publish an agenda of what stuff is happening when, so I don't know if I'll need a car except as you describe above. I can say that not having a car on a previous trip was annoying...but I don't really want to drive to Pittsburgh. If I was going to be there significantly before or after the trip, yeah...but I'm not, so I'd rather let Southwest do the driving.

Oh no! We are in Dallas for most of that. I will check our arrival time on the 11th -- we will really want to see you!

Cranberry is pretty far from the city, as pointed out above, but if you didn't have a car we'd come to you :-)

I really hope we can still see you! Please bring baby pictures! :-)

I'm not planning to drive - see my response to blackpaladin above. You should be able to see me - these things don't tend to be interesting after 5pm, and there's only so much networking I care to do. Baby pictures are not something I carry around, just 'cause there's so many of them at http://picasaweb.google.com/estie2972 - let me know if that sates your baby picture desires!

What with the hassle of airports, flying will take about as long as driving. And I agree with "Oh no! We are in Dallas for most of that."

Yeah...but I can't get someone to drive me to Pittsburgh. I will hopefully see you upon your return.

Drat. I'm catching a plane on the morning of the 11th; don't know what will be possible on the 10th given the need to tear down the Pennsic camp. (Going to Pennsic, coming home for Shabbat, going back Sunday to strike, coming home, and heading out to NHC summer institute Monday. Whee!)

Flying will probably not be faster than driving, though you have to pay more attention as a driver than as a passenger.

It sounds like I'll miss you, then. Sorry! I'll have to catch you the next time I'm in Pittsburgh. How's 2011 looking for you?

I'll go to Pennsic if I can go as a time traveler from 2008. I'll rent an RV to live in, be comfortable, etc. I'm not a fan of camping.
