Is the Woody Allen quote "90% of success is just showing up"?  or is it some other number?  And what is the best Yogi Berra quote to mash up into that?

Oh, handy quote. I make this point to students all the time - if they basically "show up" to classes and just do the stuff they have to do, they're already ahead of all the students that don't bother to turn up and do that minimum.

I've lost count of the number of people that have told me a story along the lines of "I had no hope of passing and wasn't even going to go to the exam. But I ended up going anyway, when I got there, a quarter of the seats were empty - when I realized that, I started to think I might pass after all..."

In a sea of "I couldn't be arsed", just turning up is king.

My theory in pharmacy school was that I was such a poor learner, I should go to as many classes as possible, as I was unlikely to be able to learn the material on my own from the textbooks.

Later, I discovered other things as well. You may have heard those stories before, though, so I won't repeat them. Needless to say, I may be a bad student, but I make a pretty decent pharmacist.
