Yep. And that doesn't go as far as even PG-13 (were it following a US ratings system) if I recall correctly, so there's a lot of ground they intentionally left out.

It's a deep well. Since the bar for fanfic is set low (everyone can write it, everyone can post it where it can be read) I'm usually not interested. The existing process for authors to get published is, I'm sure, stagnant, inefficient, and corrupt...but I'm going to have to let someone else tilt at that windmill. I read enough bad stuff as is - my editorial skills are good enough that if I'm going to read crap, I want to be paid for it.

The creator of Ranma was once asked what would happen if Ranma got pregnant. Her response was something along the lines of "I don't think about that, and neither should you."

I've pretty much avoided it like the plague for years.

OK, I do read some fanfic on my f-list. However, I no longer go out looking for it, or hang out in any other locations (newsgroups, etc. - Heck, I haven't been on Usenet at all in forever) where it might be found.

I remember "hanging out". It was what I did when I had that thing called "spare time". I was reminded by more than one thing online that Balticon happened this weekend. I wanted to go. I just had no idea how I would get there without a Tardis.

I was also reminded of Balticon, and spent just as much time there as you did.

Yes, but if I recall correctly, you're RUNNING YOUR OWN CONVENTION soon. That implies leisure time to me.

No.

"Attending a convention" implies leisure time.

"Running a convention" implies work, stress, and insanity. It's because of our upcoming (this weekend!) convention that I had no time for Balticon or much else recently (Jim is just two hours away in Richmond, and I have no time to go down and visit). Sure, we hope to have some fun, too; but at this point part of me just wants it to be over.

Oh, I understand. I just knew that if you were up to your ears the way I am, you wouldn't think to yourself, "Golly, I'm bored. I think I'll put on a convention!"
