Saw my new primary doctor for a physical on Friday after work. Since I saw him the first time, some of my medical problems have gotten better...but I have new ones to make up the difference. He gave me some courses of action...some of which involve new medicine. I had already had medicine for my arthritis, my acid reflux, and my allergies, among other things too unpleasant to discuss here...but now I'm going to start blood pressure medicine.
To me this is not a surprise. Both of my parents have high blood pressure, and I'm not in as good cardiovascular shape as I've been in the past...not to mention that I'm at an all-time high for weight. So hopefully the medicine will help...and so will going to the gym & doing something about my diet.
As for diet, I'm not happy about how much I weigh. (Who is? Okay, shut up, Jon.) I've done Atkins before, and its effects were good...while I did it. When we went kosher, it was something I didn't think I could restart, due to the expense. However, if it's the only thing that will help me lose weight before the wedding, I'll do it again. If Karen and I did some diet plan together, that would also be fine...but it'd be hard for me to do a non-Atkins diet by myself.
As for wedding stuff, we have some problems with the hotel. Karen's going to call them on Monday and give them a piece of her mind. We're meeting with the rabbi later today to get some stuff ironed out, and I'll hit the gym afterwards (no time now...woke up too late) and then there's some house-cleaning to do. Yee-ha!
I'll mention work later. As for vacation, I'm going to Toronto for 5 days starting the 10th, for my pharmaceutical fraternity annual convention. It'll be good to get away from the chaos at work for a bit, and it'll be nice to see all the folks in the fraternity. I also have a friend in Toronto that I know over the net but haven't met in person, and I plan to meet him for a game of cards while I'm there. 8^)
