Wibbling about RPG luck

I'm not going to hide this behind a cut tag, but if you're not into RPG's, you can probably stop reading now. Just a short rant.

Why is it that all the cool stuff happens when I'm not there? We're currently doing GURPS Musketeers and Magic, and my character is one of the King's Artillerists. I did one cool thing more than a year ago (I used a 6-lb cannon to disarm a giant. No, not his weapon. I blew his whole arm off.) and the next set of cool things have all happened with my character when I personally could not be there.

Did I mention that my character is also a pyromaniac? Cool thing #1 that I missed: blowing up the powder magazine to a castle that we'd infiltrated...and thus blowing up the castle. Cool thing #2 (from last week, when I wasn't there, and the reason for this rant): overcharging a grapeshot cannon that I was holding in my hands and taking out three foes, and not getting blown backwards.

Grr. And now I am bitter.

Don't get me wrong...I had places to go, and good and valid and important reasons for not being at gaming. The timing of the coolness as to when I am absent just bothers me.

Self-deprecating humor, is, after all, the standard by which a comedian can be judged. Or, to put it a shorter and simpler way: smartass. :)
