Yesterday

I got to bed early enough Friday night that I got up on time on Saturday morning.

How does one define 'on time'? Early enough to walk to Woodside. I was out the door before 8:30. Granted, services start at Woodside at 8:30, but that was good enough for me. I got there before the morning Shema, and was invited to lunch at the Feld's.

By the time I was done eating, I had succeeded in cooling off from the morning's jaunt. Yes, it's that warm in Maryland, at least to me. I decided that I didn't want to impose on their hospitality (as well as several other good reasons, like wanting medication and wanting to see if I could make the trip back) so I left a little after 3pm. They graciously equipped me with a liter of ice water, which was a good thing.

Total distance? About 5 miles. I'm a little sore in places, but overall, it was a good thing. :)

I'm so proud of you, honey. I really am. Had I not been expecting Rachel, I'd have gone with you. I swell with pride to think of this step you've taken toward broader shabbos observance... you never cease to amaze me. I truly am blessed with such a wonder of a husband.
